Different Types of Beach Bags

So, you're off to the beach! Most people end up bringing a lot of extra stuff with them when they head to the beach, and beach bags are convenient for carrying many of those extra items. Large beach bags are perfect for holding towels, extra clothing or a blanket. Smaller beach bags make great carry along storage for sundries such as a paperback novel, a pair of sunglasses and a bottle of sunscreen.

Beach bags come in all different shapes, sizes and fabrics. Vinyl beach bags can be wiped off easily if something spills or rinsed off to remove sand. They are a good choice for carrying home wet towels and swimsuits since vinyl won't absorb moisture. Simply dry the bag and put it away when you're done with it.

Canvas beach bags, styled like typical tote hand bags, are sturdy and make a good choice for carrying heavier items like shoes. They work well for carrying swim gear too, such as fins and masks. They can also be tossed in the washing machine for easy care. A straw beach bag makes a cute accessory and may double as a purse.

Beach bags are available in backpack styles so you can carry sundries and other small items hands free. This way you will be able to carry your lounge chair and other gear at the same time instead of having to make more than one trip to the car. Backpack style beach bags come in different sizes, so you can select a large one for yourself and smaller ones for your kids.

There are other fun styles of beach bags available for kids, including trademark character bags or bags that coordinate with their swimwear. You can purchase sets that include a beach bag and beach towel. Some sets also include other matching items, such as sunglasses, flip flops or sun visors.

Insulated beach bags are perfect for bringing along a cold drink or something to eat. The cooler bag helps keep your food or beverage chilled. If you need to bring medication with you, insulated beach bags are great for protecting medicine from the heat. These bags are also handy for storing baby formula, extra drinking water, or juice for your kids if you prefer not to bring a heavy cooler.

There are many other kinds of very creatively-designed beach bags. You can find towels that roll or fold into backpacks, for simple, all-purpose beach toting. There are even beach chairs that are built with roomy pouches for your towel, book, or Frisbee. Whatever your style or need, there's a beach bag waiting to help you enjoy your fun in the sun!

What Should I Consider When Buying a Backpack?

When buying a backpack, there are several things you should consider. The most important consideration when buying a backpack is its future use. A backpack used for carrying school supplies, for example, may not need to have as many features as a backpack that is to be used for hiking or camping.

When buying a backpack, whether for school or for outdoor use, it is important to purchase one that will be comfortable to carry. For optimum comfort, you should look for a backpack with wide straps. Those with thin straps or straps made of rope will dig into your shoulders as the weight inside the backpack pulls down on the straps.

When buying a travel bag, look for one that can easily be placed on your back. Many people swing their backpacks over only one shoulder, but this is a mistake. Backpacks are designed to be carried completely on your back, supported by both shoulders, in order to help evenly distribute the weight. Carrying the backpack on just one shoulder is bad for your muscles and for your skeleton. In fact, carrying a backpack that is either too heavy or used inappropriately is one of the leading causes of back injuries in students.

When buying a backpack, you also need to consider the amount of space inside. If the backpack will be used for carrying textbooks, it must be wide enough to accommodate the width of the books it will carry. It is also important when you are buying a laptop bag. And if the backpack is for hiking, it needs to be large enough to carry supplies such as a solar blanket and other camping gear.

Another consideration when buying a backpack is the number of compartments the backpack has. When used for hiking or camping, it is often beneficial for a backpack to have several smaller compartments. This way, important items such as lighters, knives, and canteens are easily accessible.

The same may be true if you are buying a backpack for school use. You might need compartments for your calculator, protractor, and mini-stapler. You might also look for a backpack with slots meant for holding pencils and pens.

The material is also important when buying a backpack or a camera bag. When buying a backpack for hiking or camping, it is best to purchase one that is waterproof. This way, your clothing or supplies will not get wet if you are caught in the rain. If you are buying a backpack for college use, it might also be beneficial to purchase one that is waterproof in order to prevent your books and homework from getting wet while walking from one building on campus to another in the rain.

Special-purpose backpacks

Some backpacks are specifically designed to carry certain items. Common examples include backpacks for small, high-value items such as laptop bag and camera bag; backpacks designed to hold laptop computers in particular generally have a padded compartment to hold the computer and medium sized pockets and flaps to accomedate accessories such as charger cables and cordless/corded mice. These are especially common in college and university settings. It is also possible to buy "picnic basket" backpacks that come with plastic dishes and utensils, a tablecloth, etc. In order to supply these devices with electricity, a few high-end backpacks are equipped with solar panels.

There are also single-strap packs that are essentially a hybrid between a backpack and a messenger bag.

Inexpensive, very simple packs that combine the drawstring and straps into a single piece of cloth or webbing are occasionally sold for use at sporting events and the like. Some high-end retailers (notably Apple Stores) use a similar design for their shopping bags as well.

Rolling backpacks are backpacks with wheels on the bottom and an extending handle to ease carrying objects inside the backpacks. Because of its design, rolling backpacks reduce the strain on one's back, which is more ergonomic than regular backpacks, though some rolling backpacks can be carried on the back as well. Rolling backpacks are most commonly used to carry extensive amounts of items or moderately to very heavy items in places such as airports and international/transstate train stations.

Find the right camera bag for you

Whether you have a simple point and shoot camera or DSLR camera and a half dozen lenses, you’re probably looking at camera bags to protect your gear. Part of the reason is because the camera bags that are included with most cameras are notoriously flimsy or aren’t practical for daily use. Fortunately you can order a camera bag that suits your needs and fits your price range if you know which type of bag will fit your equipment and your lifestyle.
Belt Pack Camera Bags attach around the waist with a padded belt and usually feature a simple snap-lock for easy removal. These bags are generally large enough to hold your camera plus a few lenses, a memory chip and perhaps a flash. If you’ll be moving around a lot, a belt pack bag can be very handy for keeping your camera within reach and ready to use. You’ll also be able to easily get to any of your gear without having to dig down into the bag since belt pack camera bags are usually fairly shallow. The main drawback is the same thing that makes it handy – the fact that it sits at your waist. If you’re leaning forward or want to sit down, the belt pack can be cumbersome and get in your way.

Holster Camera Bags are very popular with photographers who want to streamline what they’re carrying. These generally hold a camera, some extra batteries and perhaps a few other small accessories. These fasten on as a shoulder harness, which gives you easy access without the camera bag blocking the front of you in any way. If you’ll be hiking or climbing, these camera bags give you full range of motion and don’t interfere with the use of your arms in front of your body. If you want to carry extra lenses and an external flash, a holster bag will probably be too small. You’re sacrificing some storage room for comfort and ease of use with a holster bag.

Shoulder Camera Bags are simply slung over the shoulder with a wide strap. You’ll find an amazing array of sizes and styles when you shop for shoulder camera bags. These can hold a couple of cameras, some extra lenses and memory chips. Depending on the size, you can even fit a tripod into some shoulder bags. If you need to maintain your balance, though, shoulder strap camera bags can be clumsy. You’re carrying all of your gear weight on one side, and it can slide down your arm if you aren’t careful. You also have to be vigilant when setting your camera bag down, which you’ll have to do any time you want to open it up to get your gear out.

Backpack Camera Bags are by far the largest and most versatile style of camera bags. These give you maximum capacity for hauling multiple cameras, lenses, a tripod and even a laptop computer if needed. Backpack camera bags are also the most comfortable style because they distribute the weight of your gear evenly across both shoulders and your back. Most feature generously padded shoulder straps and some also have a belt for stabilizing the load at your waist. If you’re going to be doing a lot of walking or climbing, you’ll like the way these camera bags keep your hands free. Look for styles that open from the side or bottom instead of the top for easy access if you don’t want to have to take it on and off very often.
Sling-Bag Camera Bags are a variation on the typical
backpack bag. It usually opens from the side and has a single strap that goes diagonally across your body from one shoulder to the opposite hip. These give you quicker, easier access to your gear at a moment’s notice, but they aren’t quite as comfortable as a standard backpack style.
You may want to try a few different styles of camera bags before you purchase one to see which style best fits your needs. Take into consideration how much you’ll be moving, the positions you’ll be in and how much gear you need to carry to narrow your choices down to a few great camera bags. Buy the one that gives you the most value and versatility for your money
